Andy Pettitte broguht his "A" game tonight as he tossed 7 innings scattering 5 hits only giving up 1 run in the Yanks 5-1 victory over the Blue Jays as the win sets up the rubber game Thursday night. Yankees hopped right off of left rookie David Purcey. Yankees led off the ball game with 3 consective hits by Johnny Damon, the captain and Bobby Abreu to set up the Yankees. With bases loaded no outs Alex rodriguez popped out for the first out.Jason Giambi lofted a 2-0 purcey pitched to center to drive in Damon with the games first run. Xaiver Nady followed with a RBI single to score Jeter to boost the Yanks up to an 2-0 lead.
Yankees smacked David Purcey tonight. He pitched 4 innings and was credited with all 5 runs as the pen did their job. In Purcey's final inning the yankees broke it open. After he quickly got Matsui to fly out to cenetr for the second time he walked the un patient Robinson Cano then allowed a slap hit to Jose Molina. Yanks third run of the game came on when Johnny Damon tapped into an force out that scored Cano. Derek Jeter who had 3 hits on the day hit a 2 run homer over the wall in right to give the Yanks a 5-0 lead.
Blue Jays lone run of the game came on Pettittes lone jam of the day. Pesky platoon player David Eckstein started the rally with a hit then was Marco Scutaro who followed with a hit then Yankee killer Alex Rios grounded past Pettitte and into center for a run scoring single. Brian Bruney pitched the last 2 innings of scoreless baseball as the Yanks win 5-1.
