Pavano picks up wins in return

Its true if you didnt see the game Carl Pavano has won his first game since April 9th of 2007. He was not great but the Yanks offense was rolling again and Carl Pavano pitched 5 innings and picked up his first win on his first start of the season.

Yankees picked up a couple of early runs in the first off of O's starter Jeremy Guthrie. Johnny Damon led off with another hit then with two outs was sent home on Alex Rodriguez long double off the top of the wall. As Damon was going home perfect throw by Payton as it looked Damon would be out but he was safe as Hernandez didnt come down as Damon scores. Yanks got another on Jason Giambi's RBI single.

Carl Pavano survived multiple jams on the night even in the first. In the second he got hit hard as he gave up the lead. Luke Scott ripped a double over Nady's head. Then Car Pavano who had control problems walked Yankee killer Millar with no outs. Jay Payton singled to load the bases for Juan Castro who plated Scott with the Orioles first run. Brian Roberts tied the game with a RBI ground out. And the O's took the 3-2 lead on Pavano when Nick Markakis singled to bring home Jay Payton.

Yankees took the lead right back in the third inning. After Alex Rodriguez was plunked Jason Giambi's 2 run shot gave the Yanks a 4-3 lead as the Yanks would not look back. Matsui gave the Yanks an insurance run as he hit his 9th homer on the season and 2nd since being activated off the DL. Mariano Rivera came in and retired the top of the order for his 30Th save and in 31 chances. Yanks will go for sweep today as Rasner takes the hill vs Daniel Cabrera

WP: Pavano 1-0 LP: Guthrie 10-10 Save: Rivera 30TH
