Yankees finally broke open against Burnett in the fourth inning as they notched 2 runs against Burnett. Johnny Damon started it off with a hit then Derek Jeter was fanned on a sinker as Damon stole second in his AB. A few pitches later Bobby ASbreu ripped a 3-1 fastball to left infront of rookie Snider as Abreu mottors into second base with a run scoring double to give Yanks first blood and a 1-0 lead. Yanks would get their second run of the night when Jason Giambi hit a fly ball to left and Travis Snider the rookie came up throwing and Abreu agresslivy scored on the short flyball.
Carl Pavano was rolling and dealing into his sixth inning of work as the Jays ripped through. Travis Snider picked up his first career MLB hit by the word of a ground-rule double and a couple of batters later he scored when marco Scutaro lined a 1-0 pitch infront of Damon with the Jays first and lone run on the night. Yanks pen did it again they pitched 3 innings of scoreless baseball only surrending 2 hits. With the Jays trying to tie or go ahead in the eighth with 2 on and 1 out Mariano Rivera came out for an 5 out save and started his 32nd save when he got Inglett to force out and then fanned Scutaro swinging.
Rivera would secure his 32nd save in 33 tries when he blow away Alex Rios and caught Adam Lind looking as he finished the game off with Vernon Wells at first when he got Lyle Overbay to bounce wealky to short to end the game and a Yankee 2-1 victory
